Today, ARTE is one of the most diverse folk art institutions in Hungary, operating as a public benefit organization at the Székesfehérvár Dance House.

Our primary mission is to nurture, transmit, and creatively reinterpret Hungarian folk dance, music, and folk art in a broader sense. We don’t merely archive traditions – we teach them, bring them into communities, and adapt them to contemporary contexts to make them relevant and engaging. Our activities include running a dance ensemble, organizing training sessions and folk dance houses, thematic handicraft workshops, cultural events, professional consulting, publishing, and digitizing collected folk music and dance materials.

We work in close cooperation with local, county, national, and international partners. As a methodological partner of the Hungarian Heritage House, we take part in professional activities of the national folk art network. We are members of several domestic and international folklore organizations (e.g., CIOFF, FIDAF, Örökség Association). We maintain professional ties with other dance ensembles, folk bands, civil organizations, and educational institutions in the region. Our programs are designed to flexibly respond to community needs, with special attention to youth engagement, career guidance, and reaching disadvantaged groups.

ARTE’s largest event is the Royal Days International Folk Dance Festival, which has attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Székesfehérvár annually since 1996. The festival hosts prestigious dance groups from five continents and not only preserves traditions but fosters intercultural dialogue as well.

As a civil organization, we also fulfill important social roles in the field of public culture. Our community-building mission goes beyond the arts: people don’t just come here to dance – they come to belong. ARTE is a living, active community where generations create, learn, and experience together. We believe culture must be able to adapt to changing social needs while remaining value-based. That is why we strive to offer programs that engage younger generations while ensuring the transmission of traditional knowledge to older audiences and families.

Today, ARTE has become a kind of local cultural brand – a name that stands for quality, authenticity, and community values. We are part of the lives of multiple generations of families: many started with us, now bring their children, and we believe that this tradition – like dance itself – lives on in a circle.

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the Alba Regia Dance Ensemble invites its audience on a special journey.
